This report studies a faith crisis in detail along with an actual research survey of members who have left the church due to faith crisis and these respondents’ demographics such as age, gender, education level, household income, and church callings held as well as the primary reasons why the member left.

The Personal Faith Crisis Report was presented to Elder Uchtdorf in 2013 by Elder Jensen so leaders could better understand what is happening and take appropriate measures to address members leaving the church as a result of a faith crisis. The conferring of priesthood upon Joseph Smith is another complicated church history issue which gives people pause because it was not mentioned until years after it was supposed to have happened. There was no mention of the priesthood in the church until the Kirtland Bank fiasco and many members were leaving. There is evidence to suggest that the priesthood was thought up at the time to reinforce the authority of the church leaders after they had just lost so much of the members money.
