The Mormon church has historically marginalized various groups including women, LGBTQ individuals, people of color, intellectuals, and those who question. This marginalization occurs through doctrines that limit women's roles, policies that exclude LGBTQ members, historical racism, and discipline against those who speak out. The church's emphasis on conformity creates an environment where anyone different from the ideal Mormon family feels like an outsider.
