September Six

The September Six were six members of the LDS Church who were excommunicated or disfellowshipped in September 1993 for publishing scholarly work or advocating for change. They included historians, feminists, and intellectuals whose writings challenged official narratives. The disciplinary actions sent a chilling message that intellectual inquiry and advocacy were not welcome, contributing to an environment of fear among Mormon scholars and thinkers.
