Meet Shane—a thoughtful seeker whose faith journey led him into the Mormon Church in his early 30s after years of sincere engagement with the missionaries. For a time, he embraced the LDS faith and fully identified as a Mormon. But like many others, Shane’s trust began to unravel when the SEC’s investigation into the church’s financial secrecy exposed deep cracks in the transparency of its leadership. That moment of realization sparked a broader exploration into the historical and social issues surrounding the church, which ultimately changed his spiritual path. This is Shane’s story of waking up, digging deeper, and finding the courage to walk away.

I’m Shane, converted and joined the LDS church in my early 30’s after multiple years of meeting with the missionaries. I was a Mormon.
The SEC findings opened my eyes to a leadership that misleads its congregations, which then opened the door to explore the historic and social issues that plague the church.
