Hello, I'm rebecca_s!
Raised in the church, lived in Utah, and left on my own.

About me
I was born into the church to a father who has a strong family history with the church and a converted mother who believed the church to be the savior of her life. My entire life was centered around Mormonism for as long as I can remember. Every deep conversation somehow found its way into the religion; I attended church regularly and believed that Mormons were far better than anyone else. As the eldest daughter, I was constantly told I would make an excellent mother and had been burdened with caring for my three younger siblings since I was seven. In all, I was shaping myself to be the best wife and the best Mormon girl.

# Why I left More stories of 'Why I left' the Mormon church
The root of my anxiety became clear. For clarification, I was an extreme people-pleaser with anxiety constantly through the roof. Parts of me never felt like myself because I was trying to do what I was supposed to do at all times. I fought with this anxiety deep into my teenage years, but when I turned 19, I realized that there was one organization telling me to be this perfect girl. There was one organization stating that I wasn't as good as my brothers just because I was female. That one organization told me that every good thing that happened in my life was not from my hard work. Of course, this didn't happen overnight. In fact, it took about a month or two of heavy researching the church. (Mormon Stories is beyond amazing with their evidence and was my main source). After learning about Joseph Smith's plethora of wives and the trillions of dollars hiding in the Church. I am the only one in my family who has left. My own family still "prays" that I find my way back to the church and save my soul. I feel extremely isolated in every sense and love to read about others who have stories similar to mine. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day.

I don't know any ex-Mormons, but I would love to get to know some! My entire family is still head over heels in the gospel, and it gets really lonely. The goal is to hang out with ex-Mormons in the future.

I might be extremely biased because of my negative experiences with the church, but yes. I believe the Mormon church is a cult. The way that the church takes over your entire life, your thoughts, and completely separates you from the rest of the world. Looking at the temple ordinances also feels strongly like a cult.

They are always nice. Not true at all. I've found Mormons to be extremely fake. When I was a Mormon, I was this way too. Every compliment and service act was always for another reason. In fact, the kindest people I've met are the ones who aren't Mormon.
