Biography
Matthew Cowley was an apostle from 1945 until his death in 1953. The son of apostle Matthias F. Cowley (who was disfellowshipped), Matthew became known as an extraordinary missionary and faith healer.
Cowley served a mission to New Zealand at age 17 and developed a deep connection with the Maori people. He learned the Maori language fluently and spent most of his church career serving among Pacific Islanders.
His talks and stories about faith healings and miracles among the Pacific Islanders made him legendary. He died suddenly at age 56, cutting short a promising apostolic career.
