Biography

Joseph Angell Young was another son of Brigham Young who served as an apostle from 1864 until his death in 1875. Like his brother John Willard, he was ordained but never served in the Quorum of the Twelve.

Young served in various church capacities and was involved in colonization efforts. He died relatively young at age 40, before his father.

His apostleship represented Brigham Young’s pattern of ordaining family members to apostolic office outside the Quorum structure.
