Biography
B. H. Roberts was a prominent LDS historian, theologian, and member of the First Council of the Seventy. He wrote the six-volume Comprehensive History of the Church and edited the seven-volume History of the Church. Roberts was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1898 but was denied his seat due to his practice of polygamy. He later privately expressed doubts about Book of Mormon historicity in Studies of the Book of Mormon, which was published posthumously in 1985.
