Richard L. Evans was an apostle from 1953 until his death in 1971. He is best known as the voice and writer of “Music and the Spoken Word,” the weekly broadcast from Temple Square featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
Evans wrote and announced “Music and the Spoken Word” for over 40 years, making him one of the most recognized Mormon voices of his era. His gentle messages reached millions through radio and television.
He served 18 years as an apostle, continuing his broadcasting work throughout his apostolic service.
