Do you want to contribute blog posts to wasmormon.org? When you sign up and edit your wasmormon.org profile, you may indicate if you are interested in contributing to the site.
Many find upon deciding to leave the church, that they have a collection of issues they’ve collected over the years and a desire to share this research with the world. This is a good opportunity to share any material you have gathered in your own deconstruction that you may want to share publicly. When I started this site, I envisioned it being something to give a platform and voice to the many marginalized by the church and those the church would silence.
If you would like to write posts for the site. You can submit posts for review. When you are logged in you can see the user navigation menu at the top of the page, look for a link called “Submit Post.” Alternatively, you will see a black bar across the top of the page and you can find a “+ New” button with a “New Post” link beneath it. These will both take you to a blank post where you can start writing.
We aim to have the content be experience-based or fact-based with references. A few points that help when writing posts:
- Examine a quote from a church leader.
- Take an issue from your shelf examine or dissect it.
- Relate something related to church history you are passionate about.
- Detail something personal from your deconversion experience.
- Share resources that others may find helpful.
- Share something current events or news related to the church.
Once you feel your post is ready, click the blue “Publish” button and then the “Submit for Review” button. The post will be submitted for review and we can approve and schedule the post to go live. We’re happy to help with any graphics or post formatting that may be needed, as always please contact us with any questions or ideas. We’re open to including many voices on the site! The post will link to your profile and once published will also be listed on your profile.
Note: This site is built with the free website content management tool called WordPress. The writing interface is always under development but there are plenty of resources online if you want help learning how to work with the interface or write content in WordPres editor.
